Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between the Boy's Camps?
We get lots of questions about the difference between all the various camps that we offer. This should help break it down a little: The Full-Field Lacrosse Camps are designed to offer the best balance of full-field play and individual play. They're designed for the player who is looking for both individual training and team concepts. The Full-Field Camp offers the best balance between skills stations and full-field games. The Elite and Extreme Camps are designed to concentrate exclusively on individual, one-on-one play. There are very few full-field games at the Elite or Extreme camps. The IronMan Camps are situational specialty camps designed to cover shooting, goaltending, and transitional play. All of our camps end the day with our trademark IronMan games, which are short-field, fast-paced 6-V6 games designed to improve quickness and decision-making. So, though there might not be full-field games at some of our camps, all of our camps end the day with some sort of game-like activity. Our camps all work well on their own, but are also conveniently scheduled to run back-to-back so that a player can easily attend more than one camp and stay for up to two weeks. And yes, players attending different camps during the same session may room together.
2. Which Player's Choice camps have goalie programs?
All Player's Choice sessions` have goalie programs uniquely catered to the session they belong to. (Go to the Boy's Camps and Girl's Camps pages for descriptions.)
3. What is the refund policy?
All deposits are non-refundable ($175 for the first camp and $75 for each additional camp.) Any remaining payments are refundable up until June 30, 2010 if cancellation is due to a health related emergency and a note from a medical doctor is provided. This DOES NOT include the deposit amounts, which as already stated, are never refundable. There are no refunds after June 30, 2010. We will allow the transfer of the tuition to another player, so that if for some reason a player who is already registered cannot attend camp, we will allow another player (family member, friend, or teammate) to take his or her place. Our cancellation policy reflects the nature of running a camp like Player's Choice and the very real costs associated with it. Many of our costs deal with estimates and guarantees (insurance, beds, meals, etc.) and at a certain point we are locked into those costs. Also, our staff is organized well in advance of the camp and if we have four or five cancellations, we don't then fire a staff member. Furthermore, the Player's Choice Lacrosse Camps all happen later in the summer so we are somewhat at the mercy of what happens to all of our players earlier in the summer. We understand that things happen and that people get hurt and we try and work with people and their situations whenever we can but at a certain point we are locked into the financial realties of running a seasonal business and our options become very limited. We hope this makes sense to everyone concerned and we are grateful for your understanding and patience.
4. Are there any group discounts?
There are group discounts ($50 each off the overall price) for any group of three or more who register at the same time (sent in the same envelope, called in at the same time, registered online at the same time.) Groups of ten or more receive a $75 discount each off the total price.
5. What is the camper to counselor ratio?
It varies between 6:1 and 8:1 depending on the camp (3:1 or 4:1 for goalies usually.)
6. Who are your coaches?
Most of our coaches are college coaches and some college and pro players. The overall director is Greg Munro (former coach at Bentley College, Assumption College, and Holy Cross; current coach at Lincoln-Sudbury HS). The field director for the boy's camps is Chad Smith (former coach, Manhattan College and coach at the Naval Prep Academy). The field directors for the girl's camps are Wynne Lobel (coach, Pacific); Jessica Critchlow (coach, Union College); Caitlin Powderly (coach, Brown University); and Tara Singleton (coach, Denver; US Women's Elite Team).
7. Can I get brochures for my whole team?

15. What airport should I fly into, and if I fly where will I get picked up?
Player's Choice offers roundtrip transfer from TF Green Airport in Providence, RI and from Logan Airport in Boston, MA for a fee. You will be met at baggage claim of whatever airport you fly into and will be taken to check-in on the last day. One-way transfer is also available. T.F. Green Airport in Providence is the airport that we prefer you use. It's easy to get in and out of and is only 25 minutes from camp. Southwest, American Airlines, Delta, Northwest, and US Air all fly in and out of T.F. Green Airport. If Providence is not an option we can also provide transfer from Logan Airport in Boston.
Special note for those booking travel through Priceline, Travelocity or Orbitz, or similar on-line travel agencies: Southwest Airlines uses Providence as a hub and has many flights in and out of Providence during the day, but Southwest does not generally list their flights with on-line travel sites, so make sure you go to the Southwest site and check their options before you book a flight. They generally offer some great deals in and out of Providence. www.southwest.com
16. What are my other travel options?
To Make traveling easier, Player's Choice will run round-trip shuttles from T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI, the New Bedford Airport, the New Bedford Ferry, the New Bedford bus station, the bus and train stations in Providence, RI, and if necessary, Logan Airport in Boston. If flying into Providence, we recommend arriving between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the first day of camp; if flying into Boston, we recommend arriving between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. On the last day, if flying our of Providence, we recommend a departing flight at 2 p.m. or later; out of Boston, a flight at 3 p.m. or later. You always have the option of arriving the day before your camp starts. Please note that these are only guidelines, and that we will work with whatever flights you end up arranging.
